Either qualitative or quantitative research, both should be treated fairly. Both play an equal role to understand the research in context. It just a matter on how you view things? How you want those phenomena to be viewed and captured?
However, a good researcher somewhat accepts both perspectives; positivist/quantitative and interpretivism/social constructivism/qualitative with an open mind, no matter what his or her background. Regardless of whatever viewpoint you are, either it is quantitative or qualitative, nevertheless you can have both methods/techniques for your data collection (which known as mixed method or multi method).
This book was written to provide a better understanding of research methodological issues, particularly in management and social science research. This was done by providing a detail discussion and explanation in qualitative research and approaches. The discussion in this book consists of both theory and application from the view of the author, who is also a researcher. This book also focuses on the problems faced by many researchers, particularly in Malaysia, as there are an enormous number of researchers who are still unclear about research methodology before they embark on their research journey.
